1. Who we are

"We," "us," "YVR" or "YVR Garage Door Springs" means YVR Garage Door Springs, a residential garage door spring repair business operating across 16 Greater Vancouver municipalities. Dispatch HQ: 4321 Still Creek Drive, Burnaby, BC V5C 6C6. Phone: (778) 800-0769. Email: info@yvrgaragedoorsprings.ca.

2. What we do

We replace broken residential garage door torsion and extension springs and the associated cables, drums, bearings, and shafts. We do not install new garage doors, sell openers as a primary service, do commercial overhead doors, or handle automatic gate systems. If we arrive and the work needed is outside that scope, we will tell you, refer you to someone we trust, and there is no charge for the visit.

3. Pricing & payment

  • The price you hear on the phone is the price on the invoice. We quote the all-in tier ($784 / $832 / $1,193 plus GST/PST) before we dispatch a tech. The quoted price is the paid price. We do not raise it at the door.
  • No diagnostic fee. If we arrive and you decide not to proceed for any reason, there is no charge.
  • No deposit required. You pay only after the work is complete and you've tested the door.
  • Accepted payment: Visa, Mastercard, Interac e-Transfer, cash. Receipts emailed automatically.
  • Tax: GST (5%) and PST (7%) are added at the line item, shown clearly on the invoice.
  • Same flat price 7 a.m. – 9 p.m., seven days a week. No after-hours upcharge, no weekend surcharge, no holiday rate.

4. Cancellation

You can cancel a booking at any time before the tech arrives at your driveway, by phone, email, or text, with no charge or penalty. If you cancel after the tech has begun work, only the work actually completed is invoiced — broken springs already removed, parts already installed, etc.

5. Warranty

5.1 Parts warranty

We warrant the parts we install against manufacturing defect and premature failure under normal residential cycling for the following terms from the date of installation:

  • Standard 10,000-cycle torsion springs: 5 years.
  • High-cycle 25,000-cycle torsion springs: 7 years.
  • Cables, drums, bearings, brackets: 5 years.
  • Garage door openers (when installed by us): manufacturer warranty applies (typically 5 years parts on the motor, 1 year on accessories — varies by brand). We provide a written manufacturer warranty card at install.

5.2 Labour warranty

We warrant the workmanship of our installations for 2 years from the date of the visit. If a part we installed fails because of how we installed it — not because of the part itself, abuse, or door issues outside our scope — we return at no labour charge to fix it.

5.3 What the warranty does NOT cover

  • Damage from accidents, collisions (e.g. backing a car into the door), or impact.
  • Damage from misuse (using the opener to break ice, prying the door open when the spring is broken, exceeding the door's weight rating with added insulation or hardware).
  • Door panels, opener motors not installed by us, photo-eye sensors, weatherstripping, hinges, rollers, or any part we did not install.
  • Cosmetic wear, rust, or corrosion on parts that operate normally.
  • Service in a different unit, address, or after the homeowner has changed (warranty is non-transferable on resale; it covers the address and original installation only).
  • Acts of God, fire, flood, earthquake, vandalism, theft.

5.4 How to make a warranty claim

Call (778) 800-0769 or email info@yvrgaragedoorsprings.ca with the original invoice number (emailed at install) and a description of the problem. We respond within one business day and schedule a return visit within 48 hours during normal operating hours. There is no fee to open a warranty claim.

6. Scope of liability

We carry $5 million general commercial liability insurance and full WorkSafeBC coverage on every tech. In the event our work causes property damage or injury, our liability is governed by that insurance, by the British Columbia Sale of Goods Act, and by the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act. We do not exclude any statutory consumer-protection right you have under BC or federal law.

Where law permits, our maximum liability for any single visit is capped at the amount you paid for that visit, except for personal injury or property damage caused by our negligence — which is uncapped and covered by the liability insurance above.

7. Your responsibilities

  • Tell us truthfully what's broken on the phone so we can dispatch the right truck and parts.
  • Provide reasonable access — driveway clear of vehicles, garage interior accessible. We do not move customer property to access the door.
  • Ensure the area around the door is safe for the tech to work (no pets at the door, no people standing under the door during the test cycle).
  • Test the door under the tech's supervision before signing off, so you see it working correctly and can ask questions.

8. Photography & documentation

We may take photographs of the work site, before and after, for our internal records and for warranty documentation. We do not publish identifiable images of your property without your written consent. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

9. Dispute resolution

If you believe we did not honour these terms, the warranty, or our service obligations:

  1. Call us first: (778) 800-0769. We try to resolve every dispute on the phone first.
  2. If we can't resolve it that way, you may escalate to Consumer Protection BC or the Better Business Bureau.
  3. These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia. Any court proceeding will be in the Provincial Court of British Columbia or the BC Supreme Court, Vancouver registry.

10. Changes to these terms

We can update these terms from time to time. The version in effect on the date of your visit is the version that governs that visit. The current version is dated at the top of this page; previous versions are available on request.
